Elmwood Stock Farm

Elmwood Stock Farm is located on 550 acres in Scott County.

Our pickup locations include Frankfort, Georgetown, Lexington and Louisville.

About Us

Elmwood Stock Farm is owned and operated by a multigenerational Kentucky family who has been farming in the Bluegrass Region for over six generations. Elmwood’s 550-acre location in Scott County is now a highly diversified farm including vegetables, fruit, pastured and grass-fed meats, eggs and canned goods.

Elmwood’s long-running CSA program offers two share sizes, add-on shares of eggs, meats and pantry items, and all items are USDA Certified Organic. The popular on-farm pickup continues, where members choose their own items from all the produce in season. New for 2018: members can visit the online store to change out items in their share before it is packed each week, or cancel their share when on vacation and get extra items when they return.

*Weather and many other factors affect what farmers can produce. Neither Bluegrass Harvest nor the farms participating in the project are held responsible for production shortages or other issues affecting the quantity or quality of the products.

What are the types of shares?

Elmwood Stock Farm REGULAR Share - $650
REGULAR share is designed to feed two adults or a small household most of their weekly vegetable needs. The variety and bounty depend on the season: at the beginning quantities tend to be smaller, with a focus on salad, greens and spring veggies. Toward the middle of the season, quantities can be bountiful with summer favorites. By fall, the range of vegetables has changed yet again. These are gourmet quality vegetables harvested at the peak of ripeness to ensure top flavor and superb nutritional benefit.

Elmwood Stock Farm SMALL Share - $440
SMALL share is designed to feed single adults or couples who eat out often. It is a good introduction to a CSA program and to new-to-you vegetables, while allowing you to continue shopping your farmers market for more of your desired produce needs. This smallest share will contain a variety each week, but is never intended to overwhelm your refrigerator. The Small Share will not have the diversity or amount of any one item that a Regular Share contains. It does offer the same great benefits as larger shares including the weekly descriptive newsletter, annual farm tour, and delivery of shares to convenient neighborhood pickup locations.

The CSA Commitment

CSA is a mutual commitment and partnership between a farm and supportive members of the community. The farmers provide the wisdom and labor needed to grow farm products and members provide adequate financial support needed for the farm to operate. While the farm benefits from having a reliable market at an equitable price, members receive fresh, local and wholesome food grown by people they know and trust.

Please keep in mind that a core principle of the CSA concept is the shared commitment between the farm and members. The CSA model is meant to share not only the bounty of the farm but also the potential risks that may come with each growing season, whether that be an extended period of drought or hailstorm. Elmwood Stock Farm will always provide a diverse share, but does not guarantee certain quantities of specific items at any point in the season. Visit this page of the website to see all the items grown for CSA member shares. Members agree to pickup their share each week at their chosen pickup location. Unclaimed share items will be donated elsewhere.
